Neuromodulators (‘Toxins)

Lets Talk 'Toxins:

Fine lines and wrinkles? CN Medical in Park Ridge, IL has got a solution! Neuromodulators like Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau® temporarily relax targeted facial muscles to soften expression lines and prevent new ones from forming. It’s one of the most effective and popular treatments in aesthetics...and for good reason.

Botox® vs Jeuveau® vs Dysport®

Neuromodulators are purified proteins (botulinum toxin type A) that work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles like crow’s feet, forehead lines, frown lines, and more.

They all do the same thing, but with subtle differences that might make one better for you:

Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport
Product Best For Onset Spread Duration
Botox® Classic go-to for forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet 3–7 days Precise, localized 3–4 months
Jeuveau® "Newtox" popular for first-timers or aesthetic-focused results 3-5 days Targeted 3–4 months
Dysport® Larger areas (like forehead), faster results 2-4 days Wider spread 3–4 months

Not sure which is right for you? Don’t worry! Our experienced injectors at CN Medical will recommend the best option during your consultation based on your goals, muscle movement, and anatomy.

The Treament Process:

'Toxin treatments are quick and minimally invasive. Using a very fine needle, our experienced RN injector gently places small amounts of product into the facial muscles responsible for lines and wrinkles.

Treatment typically takes just 10–15 minutes- quick enough to fit into your lunch break (with time to grab a latte after) and most clients describe only mild discomfort. For sensitive areas, we may apply a topical numbing cream or ice for added comfort.

Botox, Jeuveau & Dysport FAQ

Botox is a wrinkle relaxer that temporarily reduces facial muscle activity that causes expression lines. It works by blocking the nerve signals that cause certain muscles to contract, allowing the skin above those muscles to smooth out. Botox is commonly used to treat forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau are all FDA-approved wrinkle relaxers made from botulinum toxin type A. They work in the same way but have slight differences in formulation and diffusion.

  • Botox: the most widely known wrinkle relaxer

  • Dysport: may spread slightly more, making it useful for larger areas like the forehead

  • Jeuveau: sometimes referred to as “Newtox,” designed specifically for cosmetic use

Your provider will recommend the best option based on your treatment area and goals.

Botox and other wrinkle relaxers can treat several areas of the face, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines (11s between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Bunny lines on the nose
  • Lip flip
  • Chin dimpling
  • Jawline slimming and masseter muscles
  • Neck bands
  • Excessive Sweating in armpits or hands
  • TMJ & migraine issues

A consultation helps determine the best treatment areas for your goals.

Most Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau treatments last about 3–4 months. Some people may notice results lasting slightly longer with consistent treatments. Regular maintenance appointments help keep results smooth and natural-looking.

Results typically begin appearing 3–5 days after treatment, with full results visible in about 10–14 days. Dysport may begin working slightly faster for some individuals, but timing can vary depending on the person and treatment area.

When performed correctly, Botox should look very natural. The goal is to soften wrinkles while maintaining normal facial movement and expression. Experienced providers carefully adjust dosage and placement to avoid a “frozen” appearance.

Many people begin Botox treatments in their late 20s to early 30s as a preventative treatment. Starting early can help prevent expression lines from becoming deeper wrinkles over time. However, Botox can be effective for adults of many ages.

Botox treatments require little to no downtime. Most people return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Mild redness or small bumps at the injection sites may occur but typically resolve within a few hours.

Botox is typically priced per unit, and the total cost depends on the number of units required for the treatment area. Areas like the forehead or frown lines may require different amounts of product. During your consultation, your provider will determine the appropriate dosage for your goals.

The number of Botox units needed depends on the strength of your facial muscles and the severity of the lines. On average, forehead treatments typically require 10–20 units, though some patients may need more or less. During a consultation, your provider will determine the ideal amount for natural-looking results.

After Botox treatment, it is recommended to avoid certain activities for the first 24 hours, including:

  • Rubbing or massaging the treated area
  • Lying flat for 4-5 hours after injections
  • Intense exercise
  • Excessive heat such as saunas or hot tubs

Following these guidelines helps ensure the product stays in the intended treatment area.

Botox has been used for both medical and cosmetic treatments for decades and is FDA-approved for cosmetic wrinkle reduction. When performed by trained medical professionals, Botox treatments have a strong safety record and are one of the most commonly performed aesthetic procedures worldwide.
